Plot Summary

Set against the turbulent backdrop of II. Dünya Savaşı, Casablanca follows Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a cynical American expatriate who runs the most popular nightclub in Fas’ın Kazablanka şehrinde. Rick is known for his detached attitude and refusal to take sides, providing refuge to refugees, smugglers, and officials navigating the uncertainties of war.

His carefully constructed emotional distance is shattered when his former lover Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) unexpectedly walks into his café alongside her husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), a renowned resistance leader pursued by the Nazis. Their arrival forces Rick to confront unresolved feelings and painful memories from their past in Paris.

As tensions rise and the threat of Nazi capture looms, Rick finds himself at the center of a moral dilemma. Holding the rare transit papers that could secure Ilsa and Victor’s escape, he must choose between rekindling a lost love or making a sacrifice for a greater cause. Through its unforgettable dialogue, atmospheric setting, and powerful performances, Casablanca remains one of cinema’s most enduring tales of love, sacrifice, and honor.
