Stephen Baldwin was born on May 12, 1966, in Massapequa, New York, United States, as the son of Carol Newcomb (Martineau) and Alexander Rae Baldwin. His full name is Stephen Andrew Baldwin. He is part of the well-known Baldwin acting family. His brothers Alec Baldwin (born 1958), Daniel Baldwin (born 1960), and William Baldwin (born 1963) are also actors. He has two sisters, Jane Baldwin (born 1965) and Elizabeth Baldwin (born 1955).

Stephen Baldwin graduated from Massapequa Alfred G. Berner High School in 1984. After high school, he enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, where he formally studied acting and began building the foundation of his professional career.

He gained international recognition in 1995 with his performance as Michael McManus in the critically acclaimed crime thriller The Usual Suspects. The film, in which he starred alongside Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Pollak, Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro, and Chazz Palminteri, became a cult classic and remains one of the most influential crime films of the 1990s.

In 1996, Stephen Baldwin appeared in the comedy film Bio-Dome, sharing the screen with Pauly Shore, Kylie Minogue, and Rose McGowan. The film later achieved cult status, further cementing Baldwin’s association with offbeat and alternative cinema of the era.
