Priyanka Chopra, also known professionally as Priyanka Chopra Jonas, was born on July 18, 1982, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. She is the daughter of Captain Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Akhauri. Her father served as a physician in the Indian Army, which led the family to live in several cities across India. She received her early education at La Martiniere Girls’ School in Lucknow.



During her teenage years, Priyanka Chopra moved to the United States, where she studied at Newton North High School in Massachusetts and later at John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She returned to India in 2000 before completing her education abroad and graduated from Army Public School in Bareilly. Following this, she enrolled at Jai Hind College in Mumbai.

Before entering beauty pageants, Priyanka Chopra had already begun working as a model. In 2000, she won the Miss India title and went on to be crowned Miss World the same year, gaining global recognition. After her win, she began receiving film offers and quickly became one of the most prominent actresses in Indian cinema. She made her film debut in 2002 with the Tamil-language film Thamizhan.

Priyanka Chopra has appeared in a wide range of films across Bollywood and Hollywood and is also a trained Western classical music singer. She has continued to work as a runway model for leading fashion designers, and in 2006, miniature dolls dressed in traditional Indian attire inspired by her image were produced and released commercially.

In 2016, Priyanka Chopra was included in Time's list of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.” She expanded her international presence with the television series Quantico, becoming one of the first Indian actresses to lead an American network drama. In 2017, she starred in the action-comedy film Baywatch alongside Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach, and Alexandra Daddario.

Priyanka Chopra is fluent in English and Hindi and has built a career spanning multiple entertainment industries. She is known for her work in Bollywood cinema, Hollywood films, action and drama genres, and television series. In 2019, she married musician Nick Jonas, a member of the band Jonas Brothers. On March 11, 2021, she hosted the 74th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) ceremony in London.
