Josh Duhamel, whose full name is Joshua David Duhamel, is an American film and television actor. He began his career as a fashion model before transitioning into acting. Duhamel gained early recognition for his role as Leo Du Pres on the television series All My Children, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award in the Supporting Actor category. He later became widely known for his work in major Hollywood productions, particularly in the Transformers film franchise.

Josh Duhamel was born on November 14, 1972, in Minot, North Dakota, as one of four children of advertising salesman Larry David Duhamel and physical education teacher Bonnie Duhamel. Following his parents’ divorce, he was raised by his mother along with his three sisters, Ashley Duhamel, Cassidy Duhamel, and McKenzie Duhamel. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the biology department at Minot State University, where he also played as a quarterback on the university’s American football team. Although he had aspired to become a dentist since his sophomore year in high school, he narrowly missed acceptance into dental school.

Standing 1.92 meters tall, Duhamel worked briefly as a lifeguard during his youth. After completing his studies, he moved to California and began working as a fashion model, appearing in major magazines. In 1997, he was awarded the Model of the Year title by the International Modeling and Talent Association.

In 1999, Duhamel made his acting debut by portraying the title character in the independent film The Picture of Dorian Gray. That same year, he joined the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children, where he portrayed Leo Du Pres between 1999 and 2002. His performance earned him a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor. The producers valued him so highly that the introduction of his character was delayed by a month to accommodate his schedule.

In 2003, Duhamel began starring in the successful television series Las Vegas, where he played Danny McCoy alongside James Caan. His transition to leading man status in cinema followed with the romantic comedy Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004), which brought him wider public attention. He later appeared in the adventure-thriller Turistas (2006).

Duhamel achieved international blockbuster fame in 2007 with his role as Captain William Lennox in Transformers. He reprised the role as Major William Lennox in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011).

In his personal life, Duhamel was previously engaged to model Kristy Pierce, though the couple later separated. He later began a relationship with Stacy Ferguson—also known as Fergie—the lead singer of The Black Eyed Peas. The two married on January 10, 2009.
