Prince Harry, who previously lost his right to official armed police protection in the UK, is now very close to having that protection reinstated. A recent official review has reportedly concluded in his favor, raising expectations that his security arrangements in Britain may soon be restored.

After stepping back from royal duties and relocating to the United States with his family, Harry lost access to state-funded armed protection while on UK soil. However, sources indicate that a formal assessment conducted on behalf of the British government determined that he meets the criteria for taxpayer-funded security. This finding has reportedly created a positive atmosphere within government circles regarding the reinstatement of his protection.

The review was carried out by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), which includes representatives from the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police, and the royal household. The comprehensive evaluation was approved in December, following years of campaigning and an unsuccessful court appeal by Harry. Unless a last-minute objection is raised, it is widely expected that he will once again receive the armed security and institutional support he had while serving as a working member of the royal family.

If formally approved, the decision could also make it easier for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle to visit the UK with their children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet. Harry has previously stated that he does not believe it is safe to bring his wife or children to Britain without adequate security measures in place.
