Epstein Files Released: Politicians, Royals, Celebrities and Business Leaders Named in Newly Unsealed Documents

The US Department of Justice has released the first batch of long-awaited Jeffrey Epstein documents, revealing a wide-ranging network of politicians, royalty, celebrities, academics and business leaders who had contact with the disgraced financier over several decades. The files include photographs, videos, police records and FBI reports, shedding new light on Epstein’s social circle while reigniting debates over transparency and accountability.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) made public thousands of pages related to Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of child sex crimes and later died in jail. Despite a congressional mandate requiring full disclosure, large portions of the documents were heavily redacted. Officials said the redactions were necessary to protect victims’ identities, a justification that has drawn criticism from both Democratic and Republican lawmakers, who argue that the process lacks sufficient transparency.

Authorities stressed that appearing in the documents or photographs does not imply guilt. Social contact, event attendance or being photographed with Epstein does not, on its own, constitute evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

Epstein’s private island and global connections

Among the materials are layout plans of Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James, located in the US Virgin Islands. The island has long been at the center of allegations that it was used to facilitate abuse. The documents illustrate the scale of Epstein’s connections across politics, finance and entertainment, highlighting how deeply embedded he was within elite social circles for years.

One of the most prominent figures in the files is former US president Bill Clinton. A total of 68 photographs show Clinton with Epstein in various settings, including images taken in leisure environments such as near pools and indoor relaxation areas. Clinton has acknowledged social interactions with Epstein during the 1990s and early 2000s but has repeatedly stated that he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities.

No Epstein victim has accused Clinton of any wrongdoing. Following the document release, Clinton spokesperson Angel Ureña said the images had been publicly known for more than two decades and emphasized that they did not implicate Clinton in any crimes.

Donald Trump mentioned, but no charges

The documents also reference US president Donald Trump, though in a more limited context. Court filings cite an allegation that Epstein introduced Trump to a 14-year-old girl at Mar-a-Lago in the 1990s. However, the claim did not result in any criminal charges, and Trump is not accused of wrongdoing in the case.

Trump has previously acknowledged knowing Epstein socially but said he cut ties around 2004. The White House described the document release as an example of transparency, while political allies highlighted the prominence of Clinton-related photographs.

Royal connection: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

One of the most striking images in the files involves Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, also known as Prince Andrew. The photograph shows him reclining among several individuals, with Ghislaine Maxwell standing behind him. Andrew has faced public scrutiny for years due to his association with Epstein but has consistently denied any involvement in criminal activity.

Musicians and Hollywood figures

The newly released documents reveal one of the broadest ranges of celebrities linked to Epstein so far. Photographs include music icons Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, and Diana Ross, sometimes appearing together and at other times alongside Epstein. The locations and dates of several images remain unclear.

Officials stated there is no evidence that these musicians were aware of or involved in Epstein’s crimes.

Actors also appear in the files. Chris Tucker is seen in photographs dining with Clinton and standing with Ghislaine Maxwell at an airport runway. Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey appears in a group photo with Clinton and Maxwell taken at London’s Churchill War Rooms.

Academics and business leaders

The documents include images of renowned linguist Noam Chomsky, showing him traveling by plane with Epstein. Chomsky has previously said he knew Epstein and met with him occasionally.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates also appears in the files, photographed with women whose identities were redacted. Gates has publicly described his association with Epstein as a “serious mistake,” stating that meetings related to potential philanthropic projects that never materialized.

Another notable image shows Ghislaine Maxwell posing alone outside 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the UK prime minister. The timing and purpose of her visit remain unknown. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for child sex trafficking related to Epstein.

First whistleblower: Maria Farmer

The files also include a 1996 FBI complaint from artist Maria Farmer, one of the first people to report Epstein. Farmer alleged that Epstein stole and sold photographs belonging to her family and threatened her with violence. Although her name was redacted in the documents, Farmer later confirmed that the complaint was hers, saying she felt “vindicated” by the release.

US authorities reiterated that the release of these documents does not constitute accusations against the individuals named. Instead, the files provide a clearer picture of how Epstein and Maxwell cultivated relationships across powerful sectors for years, raising ongoing questions about how such extensive abuse went unchecked for so long.
