Story Overview

The Operative tells a tense and atmospheric espionage story centered on Rachel, a highly trained agent working for Israel’s feared national intelligence organization, Mossad. When Rachel suddenly disappears without leaving any trace, her vanishing sets off alarm bells within the intelligence community.

Rachel goes missing during a deeply personal moment, her father’s funeral in London. The only clue to her whereabouts is a cryptic, coded phone call she makes to her former handler, Thomas, who is summoned from Germany back to Israel to unravel the mystery. As fragments of Rachel’s last movements begin to surface, it becomes clear that her disappearance is tied to a far-reaching covert operation targeting Iran’s nuclear program.

Determined to find Rachel before it is too late, Thomas retraces her steps, navigating a dangerous web of deception, loyalty, and betrayal. As he digs deeper, he must not only protect Rachel but also assess the potential threat her actions pose to Mossad’s ongoing operations. The line between hunter and protector gradually blurs, forcing Thomas to confront the moral cost of a life lived in the shadows.
