Plot Summary

On a stormy night in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, an unconscious man is rescued by a fishing boat crew. Believed to be dead at first, he is found with two bullet wounds in his back and a strange laser device implanted beneath his skin.

The man survives, but awakens with complete amnesia. The laser device turns out to contain the number of a Swiss bank account and its access codes. With no memory of who he is or why he was targeted, the clues lead him from Switzerland to Zurich and eventually to Paris.

Identifying himself as Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), he teams up with a drifter named Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente), whom he meets by chance. Although Bourne remembers nothing about his past, it soon becomes clear that many powerful forces know exactly who he is.

As Bourne pieces together fragments of his identity, he discovers extraordinary combat skills, sharp instincts, and a past tied to covert operations. With large sums of money, unanswered questions, and deadly pursuers—including operatives connected to the CIA—closing in, Bourne is forced into a relentless chase where survival depends on uncovering the truth about who he really is.
