Story Overview

Schindler's List is a powerful historical drama directed by Steven Spielberg that tells the remarkable true story of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who saved more than a thousand Jewish refugees during the World War II Holocaust.

At the beginning of the war, opportunistic industrialist Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) arrives in Kraków, hoping to profit from the German occupation of Poland. Using his charm and connections with Nazi officials, he acquires a factory producing enamelware and hires Jewish workers whose labor is cheaper due to discriminatory Nazi policies. To manage the factory, he relies on the intelligent Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), who helps organize the workforce.

As the war intensifies, the brutal Nazi commandant Amon Göth (Ralph Fiennes) oversees the nearby concentration camp with ruthless cruelty. Witnessing the horrific treatment and systematic murder of Jewish people profoundly changes Schindler. What began as a business venture gradually becomes a moral mission.

Risking his fortune and eventually his life, Schindler begins compiling a list of Jewish workers to be transferred to his factory, protecting them from deportation and extermination. This list ultimately becomes a lifeline for more than 1,100 people. Through sacrifice, courage, and humanity in the face of unimaginable evil, Schindler transforms from a war profiteer into an unlikely savior.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, Schindler's List stands as a haunting and deeply emotional portrayal of the Holocaust and a testament to the impact one individual can have against overwhelming injustice.
