Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Live Free or Die Hard finds John McClane (Bruce Willis) older, worn down, and far removed from the reckless cop he once was. Divorced, battling alcoholism, and no longer active within the police department, McClane now works for a government security division tasked with tracking dangerous cybercriminals. His life takes another violent turn while transporting a young hacker named Matt Farrell (Justin Long) for questioning, when he suddenly becomes caught in the middle of a new kind of terrorist attack.

The assault is orchestrated by a sophisticated cyber-terrorist group led by the ruthless Gregory Pope (Timothy Olyphant). Their plan targets the very backbone of America’s digital infrastructure, beginning with traffic control systems and rapidly escalating to banking networks, stock markets, and national data grids. As one system after another collapses, the country is pushed toward economic and social paralysis.

As chaos spreads nationwide, McClane realizes that Matt Farrell is far more valuable than a routine suspect. The young hacker possesses the intelligence and technical insight necessary to understand the terrorists’ master plan and predict their next moves. Reluctantly forming an unlikely partnership, the old-school cop and the tech-savvy outsider are forced to rely on each other to survive.

With time running out and the nation on the brink of collapse, McClane and Farrell race against a near-flawless digital conspiracy. Blending traditional action with modern cyber warfare, Live Free or Die Hard reinvents the franchise for the digital age, pitting analog grit against high-tech terror in a high-stakes battle for national survival.
