Plot Summary

Unfolding at a deliberately measured pace, Jackie Brown gradually evolves into a dense web of double and triple betrayals, where trust is fragile and alliances shift without warning. Jackie Brown (Pam Grier) is a flight attendant caught smuggling drugs and money into the United States. Working for arms dealer Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. Jackson), Jackie finds herself under intense pressure from federal agent Ray Nicolet (Michael Keaton), yet she refuses to betray Ordell during interrogation. Suspicious but not ready to cut ties, Ordell hires bail bondsman Max Cherry (Robert Forster) to post Jackie’s $10,000 bail—and to kill her if she shows any sign of disloyalty.

Jackie successfully passes Ordell’s test, but her real plan is far more ambitious. Alongside Max, she begins plotting a dangerous double-cross designed to deceive both the federal authorities and Ordell himself, with the goal of stealing $500,000 and securing her freedom once and for all.

Soon, nearly everyone is drawn into the scheme. From Ordell’s jittery, drug-addicted girlfriend Melanie (Bridget Fonda) to his unpredictable associate Louis (Robert De Niro), loyalties fracture as greed takes over.
