Plot Summary

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is set in the year 2065, after a catastrophic meteor strike brings Earth into contact with a deadly alien life form that feeds on the planet’s living energy. These hostile spectral creatures rapidly devastate the world, forcing the few surviving humans to retreat into fortified barrier cities as civilization teeters on the edge of extinction.

As time runs out, hope emerges in the form of Dr. Aki Ross (Ming-Na Wen), a brilliant and determined scientist whose connection to the spiritual forces of life may hold the key to humanity’s survival. Haunted by visions linked to the alien invasion, Aki believes that understanding the true nature of these beings—rather than destroying them through brute force—is the only way to save the planet.

Guided by her mentor and scientific advisor Dr. Sid (Donald Sutherland), Aki embarks on a perilous mission to collect eight spiritual essences capable of restoring Earth’s balance.
