Plot Summary

Dragged Across Concrete is a bleak and uncompromising crime thriller centered on two veteran police officers, Brett Ridgeman and Anthony Lurasetti, portrayed by Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn. After disturbing footage of their excessively violent interrogation methods is leaked to the media, both men are suspended from duty, stripped of authority, and left to confront a system that has abruptly turned its back on them.

Running for nearly 160 minutes, the film deliberately embraces a slow, methodical pace, favoring long silences, minimal dialogue, and restrained use of music. Director and screenwriter S. Craig Zahler crafts a tense atmosphere that rejects conventional action rhythms, instead immersing the audience in moral discomfort and simmering resentment. The narrative examines not only institutional corruption and personal desperation, but also the contradictions embedded within debates on justice, equality, and power.

Rather than offering clear moral answers, Dragged Across Concrete provokes the viewer by exposing flawed perspectives on both sides of the law. Its harsh tone and uncompromising structure may feel deliberately abrasive, yet the film’s true ambition lies in challenging the audience to question the very meaning of justice in a world driven by anger, fear, and systemic hypocrisy.
