Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Collateral unfolds over the course of a single night in Los Angeles, following Max Durocher, a hardworking cab driver portrayed by Jamie Foxx, whose ordinary routine is abruptly shattered by an unusual passenger. Vincent, played by Tom Cruise, offers Max an exceptionally lucrative fare in exchange for being driven to several locations across the city. What begins as a seemingly harmless deal quickly turns into a nightmare when Max realizes he has been taken hostage by Vincent, a cold and methodical contract killer in the middle of a deadly assignment.

As the night progresses, Max is forced to accompany Vincent from hit to hit, becoming an unwilling participant in a meticulously planned killing spree. Trapped inside his own cab, Max must navigate fear, moral conflict, and survival while Vincent challenges his views on fate, choice, and personal responsibility. Directed by Michael Mann and written by Stuart Beattie, the film blends neo-noir atmosphere with intense psychological tension. Supported by performances from Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg, Javier Bardem, and Bruce McGill, Collateral delivers a gripping exploration of chance encounters and the thin line between control and chaos in the urban night.
