Plot Summary

Seven strangers, each burdened by a dark and troubled past, arrive at the same destination from different regions and for very different reasons. Their paths converge at the El Royale Hotel, a dilapidated and forgotten establishment located on the edge of Lake Tahoe. Behind polite facades, every guest harbors secrets they are desperate to keep buried.

As night falls, the hotel becomes a pressure cooker of hidden motives, shifting alliances, and long-suppressed truths. What begins as a chance encounter slowly transforms into a dangerous reckoning, where the past refuses to stay silent and redemption comes at a brutal cost.

As events spiral out of control, each of the seven strangers realizes that this night may represent their final opportunity to confront their sins and save themselves. Despite deep wounds that have never healed, they must decide whether salvation is still possible—or if the El Royale will become the place where everything finally ends.

Written and directed by Drew Goddard, best known for The Cabin in the Woods, the film features an ensemble cast including Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, and Nick Offerman.
