Plot Summary

After an unprecedented lightning strike strands Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) in 1955, he discovers that Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) has been thrown back to 1885, the era of the Old West. Learning that the Doc is destined to die shortly after Marty’s arrival, Marty must travel even further into the past to save his friend from a premature and tragic fate.

Surviving Native American attacks and the hostility of the local townsfolk, Marty finally tracks down Doc Brown, now living as a blacksmith. However, things grow more complicated when Doc falls deeply in love with schoolteacher Clara Clayton (Mary Steenburgen). As emotions and destiny collide, Marty realizes that getting them all out of the Wild West—and back to the future—may be his most difficult challenge yet.
