Plot Summary

Artificial Intelligence: AI is set in a near future where natural resources are scarce and technological progress has reshaped every aspect of human life. In this tightly controlled world, people are constantly monitored, food is the result of advanced engineering, and highly sophisticated robots equipped with artificial intelligence are designed to serve humanity. From gardening and household duties to companionship, robots are tailored for specific roles. Yet one question remains deeply controversial: should machines be allowed to feel emotions? Society largely agrees that robots must remain tools, not emotional beings.

A breakthrough by Cybertronics offers hope to couples unable to have children. David, portrayed by Haley Joel Osment, is the first child robot programmed to love unconditionally. He is adopted on a trial basis by a Cybertronics employee and his wife while their biological son is ill. Although David gradually becomes a real part of the family, a series of unexpected events push him into isolation and danger.

Rejected by both humans and machines, David sets out on a journey to discover where he truly belongs. His only constant companion is his loyal teddy bear, a symbol of comfort and protection. Along the way, he meets Joe, a charming gigolo robot played by Jude Law, who becomes his guide through a world that is both wondrous and cruel.
