Plot Summary

Alatriste is set in Spain during the 17th Century, a time marked by war, honor, and political intrigue. The story follows Captain Diego Alatriste (Viggo Mortensen), a fearless and seasoned soldier known for his loyalty and combat skills.

After his closest friend Balboa is killed in battle, Alatriste honors his final wish by taking responsibility for his son, Íñigo (Unax Ugalde). As the young boy grows under Alatriste’s guidance, he is shaped into a brave warrior, learning the harsh realities of war and the complexities of loyalty, betrayal, and love.
