Anthony Joshua, born as Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, is a Nigerian-born British professional boxer and one of the defining heavyweight fighters of his generation. He was born on October 15, 1989, in Watford, United Kingdom. His mother is Yeta Odusanya, and his father is Robert Joshua. His mother is Nigerian, while his father is a British citizen of Nigerian and Irish descent. When Joshua was 12 years old, his parents divorced. Following this, he returned to England midway through Year Seven to attend Kings Langley Secondary School. Part of his childhood was spent in Nigeria, where he developed strong cultural ties.



Anthony Joshua studied at Kings Langley Secondary School, where he excelled in football and athletics. He gained widespread attention for his athletic ability after running the 100 meters in just 11 seconds. Before beginning his boxing career, Joshua worked in bricklaying, demonstrating the physical strength and discipline that would later define his fighting style.

Joshua began boxing in 2007 at the age of 18, following the advice of his cousin, the professional boxer Ben Lleyemi. His amateur career progressed rapidly. He won the Haringey Box Cup in both 2009 and 2010. In 2010, he captured the ABA Championship and famously rejected an offer of £50,000 to turn professional, stating that his goal was medals rather than money. By the end of 2020, Anthony Joshua had fought 25 professional bouts, winning 24 and losing only once. Of his victories, 22 came by knockout. His sole defeat during that period occurred in 2019 against American boxer Andy Ruiz Jr.. Joshua successfully defended his titles on December 12, 2020, in London, knocking out Bulgarian challenger Kubrat Pulev in the ninth round.

On September 25, 2021, Anthony Joshua suffered his second professional loss when he was defeated by Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk. This marked the second defeat of his career. On September 21, 2024, he faced Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London and was knocked out in the fifth round.

On December 20, 2025, in Miami, United States, Anthony Joshua faced Jake Paul in a highly publicized bout. The two-time world heavyweight champion secured victory by knocking out Paul in the sixth round, reaffirming his status as one of boxing’s most prominent figures.
