Jacob Elordi Emerges as a Strong Contender for James Bond
Jacob Elordi Emerges as a Strong Contender for James Bond: The Youngest and Tallest 007 Yet?
As anticipation builds for the next James Bond film, one name is increasingly dominating the conversation: Jacob Elordi. According to recent reports, the Australian actor has screen-tested for “Bond 26” director Denis Villeneuve.
While no official announcement has been made, the identity of the seventh official 007 — excluding David Niven’s appearance in Casino Royale (1967) — remains one of Hollywood’s best-kept secrets.
Rising Competition for the Role of 007
In recent months, several actors have been linked to the iconic role, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, Scott Rose-Marsh, and Callum Turner. Rumors even suggested that Turner had already secured the part.
Now, new reports indicate that 28-year-old Jacob Elordi has screen-tested for the role.
Elordi rose to global fame with his performance in Euphoria. He further strengthened his profile with roles in Priscilla and Frankenstein, and he is also set to appear in Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennell’s upcoming adaptation of the classic novel by Emily Brontë. With his career momentum accelerating — including awards buzz surrounding his portrayal of Frankenstein’s creature — Elordi has become one of the industry’s most talked-about rising stars.
He Could Make Bond History
If cast, Jacob Elordi would make Bond history in several significant ways. He would become only the second Australian actor to portray 007, following George Lazenby, who starred in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. At 6’5” (1.96 meters), Elordi would also be the tallest actor ever to take on the role. Perhaps most notably, at 28, he would become the youngest official Bond in franchise history. This would align with reports that, following Daniel Craig’s farewell in No Time to Die, the studio is looking to reboot the franchise with a younger lead.
A New Era for Bond 26
“Bond 26” will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. Production is expected to begin in 2027, with a planned release in 2028.
The film will mark the first Bond installment developed under Amazon’s full creative control of the franchise. Longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are stepping down, signaling a major shift behind the scenes.
An official casting decision is expected to be announced in mid-2026. Until then, speculation will continue — and if Jacob Elordi ultimately steps into the tuxedo, it could signal a bold new chapter for 007.
