Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Wuthering Heights reimagines the tempestuous love story set against the stark and windswept moors of Yorkshire, where passion and vengeance intertwine in a tale of emotional devastation. Orphaned and brought into the Earnshaw household by Mr. Earnshaw, Heathcliff grows up alongside Catherine and Hindley. From childhood, an intense and untamed bond forms between Heathcliff and Catherine—one that transcends affection and borders on obsession.

After Mr. Earnshaw’s death, Hindley assumes control of Wuthering Heights and cruelly reduces Heathcliff to the status of a servant. Humiliation and class prejudice ignite a deep-seated resentment within him. Meanwhile, Catherine—despite her profound connection to Heathcliff—chooses to marry the wealthy and refined Edgar Linton of Thrushcross Grange in pursuit of social elevation. For Heathcliff, her decision represents not only heartbreak but an unforgivable betrayal.

Years later, Heathcliff returns, mysteriously enriched and emotionally hardened. No longer the powerless boy once scorned, he is driven by a singular purpose: revenge. Yet his calculated retribution gradually consumes everything around him, blurring the line between justice and self-destruction. Love curdles into obsession, and longing mutates into cruelty, revealing the darkest recesses of human nature.

Starring Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, the film is directed and written by Emerald Fennell. This adaptation revitalizes the gothic literary classic with a contemporary cinematic sensibility. Wuthering Heights stands as a visually arresting and emotionally charged exploration of how love, when entwined with pride and vengeance, can become as destructive as it is transcendent.
