Story Overview

What Happens in Vegas centers on two complete opposites whose lives collide during a wild weekend in Las Vegas. Jack Fuller (Ashton Kutcher), a carefree party enthusiast, and Joy McNally (Cameron Diaz), a disciplined businesswoman, meet as strangers in the city famously defined by excess and impulsive decisions. What begins as a night of celebration quickly escalates into a life-altering mistake.

While vacationing in the Sin City Las Vegas, the pair impulsively get married in a moment that perfectly embodies the city’s reckless spirit. The real chaos, however, begins when they hit the jackpot on a slot machine, winning three million dollars. The problem is simple yet explosive: Jack pulled the lever, but Joy supplied the lucky coin. Ownership of the fortune instantly becomes a legal and emotional battlefield.

Assigned to their case, Judge Whopper (Dennis Miller) refuses both their annulment request and their demand to split the winnings. Instead, he sentences them to six months of mandatory marriage, insisting they prove a genuine effort to make the relationship work. Failure to do so will cost them every cent of the prize.

As Jack and Joy are forced to live together, the situation turns into a hilarious and increasingly complicated test of patience, deception, and emotional endurance. What starts as a battle of wills soon raises an unexpected question: who can play the better spouse—and will this fake marriage remain an act, or slowly transform into something real?
