Story Overview

The Rocker tells the story of a fallen drummer who is unexpectedly given a second chance at fame, unfolding in a lighthearted and comedic tone. Robert “Fish” Fishman (Rainn Wilson) once lived entirely for his dream of rock n' roll, driven by ambition and the hope of becoming a rock star—until he is abruptly kicked out of his band just before they achieve success.

Twenty years later, Fish has abandoned his musical aspirations, his rock-star fantasies long since shattered. Stuck in an unremarkable adult life, he is forced to confront the painful reality of what might have been. Just as he has fully resigned himself to obscurity, he learns that a local high school rock band is searching for a new drummer.

Seizing this unlikely opportunity, Fish steps back behind the drum kit, finding himself immersed in a world far removed from the rock scene he once knew. What begins as a desperate grasp at lost glory soon turns into a humorous and heartfelt journey about redemption, second chances, and the enduring power of passion—no matter how late it may arrive.
