Story Overview

Oh Dae-su (Min-sik Choi) is an ordinary yet deeply flawed man whose life takes a shocking turn when he is suddenly abducted while intoxicated on his way home. Without explanation, he awakens in a small, dark cell, completely cut off from the outside world. With no knowledge of who imprisoned him or why, his only connection to reality becomes a television set inside the room.

As years pass in isolation, Dae-su struggles to maintain his sanity while obsessively trying to uncover the reason behind his captivity. The television eventually reveals a devastating truth about his past, intensifying his emotional turmoil and fueling his desire for answers. After 15 long years, he is abruptly released—just as mysteriously as he was taken.

Now free but consumed by rage and confusion, Dae-su embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance. As he digs deeper into the mystery, he finds himself entangled in a disturbing web of secrets, manipulation, and psychological torment. His journey toward revenge ultimately forces him to confront the darkest corners of his own past, leading to a revelation that is as shocking as it is tragic.
