Story Overview

Hannibal (2001)

Serving as the sequel to Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal revisits the chilling legacy of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) ten years after his audacious escape from a maximum-security facility. Once confined and controlled, Lecter has reinvented himself in Italy, living a refined yet clandestine life free from guards, surveillance, and restraint.

Meanwhile, FBI agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore) remains deeply haunted by her encounters with Lecter. Though time has passed, his voice and presence continue to echo through her subconscious, blurring the line between professional obsession and psychological trauma.

Another figure from Lecter’s violent past resurfaces with vengeance in mind: Mason Verger, his sixth victim, who survived but was left grotesquely disfigured. Now wielding his family’s immense fortune, Verger devotes every resource to exacting revenge. Knowing Lecter cannot be captured in the shadows, he devises a calculated plan to lure him into the open.

The bait is Clarice Starling herself. As paths converge across continents, Hannibal evolves into a tense psychological duel—one driven by obsession, revenge, and the terrifying intellect of a man who feeds not only on flesh, but on fear.
