Good Night, and Good Luck (2005)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK is set in 1953, a time when television—an object that speaks—has only just begun to occupy American living rooms.

As Senator Joseph McCarthy rises to power by exploiting fear, deception, and aggression, he seeks to become the most influential figure in the country. Veteran news broadcaster Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn) recognizes the dangerous tactics behind McCarthy’s crusade and chooses to confront him publicly.

The battlefield of this confrontation is the CBS newsroom, where a determined team of journalists and producers works under immense pressure. Surrounded by political intimidation and corporate caution, they push forward with integrity, believing that journalism must stand as a counterforce to hysteria.

As broadcasts go live, both media and the nation itself begin to change in real time. GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK captures a defining moment in American history, portraying the moral courage required to speak truth to power and the fragile balance between fear and freedom in the age of television.
