Clerks (1994)
Official Trailer
Plot Summary
Clerks follows Dante (Brian O'Halloran), a convenience store clerk who is dragged into work on what was supposed to be his day off, and his foul-mouthed best friend Randal (Jeff Anderson), who spends his own shift next door in the video store. Over the course of one chaotic day, the two drift through a nonstop stream of customers, arguments, relationship frustrations, and absurd conversations that turn ordinary retail life into deadpan comedy.
Written by Kevin Smith, the film transforms a mundane workday into a sharp, funny portrait of aimlessness, friendship, and twenty-something frustration. Its stripped-down black-and-white style, rapid-fire dialogue, and casually rebellious spirit helped make Clerks one of the defining American independent comedies of the 1990s.
