Plot Summary

Back to the Future follows Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), a typical 18-year-old American teenager whose life takes an extraordinary turn when he is accidentally sent back to the 1950s using a plutonium-powered time machine invented by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd).

As Marty navigates the unfamiliar past, he realizes that returning to his own time depends on securing a very delicate chain of events. Most crucially, he must ensure that his teenage parents meet and fall in love—otherwise, his own existence, along with the future he knows, will be erased forever.
