Story Overview

A Haunting in Venice is a gothic mystery thriller adapted from the novel “Hallowe’en Party” by Agatha Christie. Directed by and starring Academy Award winner Kenneth Branagh, the film marks another stylish installment in the modern cinematic reimagining of Christie’s iconic detective stories.

Set in post–World War II Venice, the story follows the now-retired Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who has withdrawn from the world and chosen a quiet life in one of the most enchanting cities on earth. Reluctantly persuaded to attend a séance held in a decaying, supposedly haunted palazzo, Poirot soon finds himself drawn back into the realm of crime when one of the guests is mysteriously murdered.

As shadows lengthen and suspicion spreads among the séance’s participants, Poirot must confront not only the possibility of a human killer but also the unsettling atmosphere of superstition and fear that surrounds the gathering. Navigating a labyrinth of secrets, hidden motives, and psychological tension, he once again relies on his meticulous logic and razor-sharp observation skills to uncover the truth.

Alongside Kenneth Branagh, the film features a distinguished ensemble cast including Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Michelle Yeoh.
