Iain Glen is internationally recognized for his roles in the Resident Evil film series and for portraying Ser Jorah Mormont in the television series Game of Thrones. He was born on June 24, 1961, in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. He graduated from the University of Aberdeen and later completed his professional acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.



In 2001, Iain Glen appeared in the action-adventure film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, sharing the screen with Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight, Daniel Craig, Noah Taylor, and Chris Barrie. The following year, in 2002, he performed alongside Glenn Close at the Lyttelton National Theatre in Tennessee Williams’ stage classic A Streetcar Named Desire.

In August 2003, Iain Glen appeared at the Edinburgh Festival in Anton Chekhov’s play The Seagull. Between April and June 2006, he portrayed John Proctor in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and later in June 2006 at London’s Gielgud Theatre, further cementing his reputation as a leading classical stage actor.

In 2010, Iain Glen both starred in and made his directorial debut with Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts at the Duchess Theatre in London, marking an important milestone in his theatrical career.

In 2007, Iain Glen portrayed Dr. Alexander Isaacs in Resident Evil: Extinction, acting alongside Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Oded Fehr, and Mike Epps. Between 2011 and 2017, Iain Glen played Ser Jorah Mormont in the HBO series Game of Thrones, appearing opposite actors such as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Charles Dance, and Sibel Kekilli.
