Plot Summary
Yellow Letters is a 2026 Turkish-German-French co-production film directed by İlker Çatak and starring Tansu Biçer and Özgü Namal. The film won the Golden Bear award at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.
The film tells the story of Derya and Aziz, theater artists living in Ankara, whose lives change overnight after the premiere of their new play, when they lose their jobs, their home, and their settled lives. Forced to move to Istanbul with their 13-year-old daughter Ezgi to live with Aziz's mother, the couple struggles to build a new life amidst uncertainty and financial difficulties. While Aziz works temporary jobs to support his family, Derya searches for a way to lift them out of their predicament. As increasing pressures and anxieties about the future affect family relationships, Derya and Aziz are faced with a difficult choice between their values and their shared future.
