Plot Summary

After breaking up with Desiree (Leslie Bibb), Zia (Patrick Fugit) falls into deep despair and ends his life by slitting his wrists. However, death is not the end—he awakens in a strange afterlife reserved exclusively for people who have committed suicide. This bleak and colorless world mirrors reality, but everything feels slightly worse. In its bars, only bands like Joy Division and Nirvana are played, reinforcing the melancholic tone of this existence.

While navigating this odd dimension, Zia learns that Desiree has also ended her life and may be somewhere within this world. Determined to find her, he embarks on a surreal road trip accompanied by a quirky Russian rock musician and a mysterious hitchhiker who insists she doesn’t belong there. As they travel through this bizarre landscape, Zia confronts love, regret, and the lingering emotions that transcend even death.
