The Million Dollar Hotel (2000)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

The Million Dollar Hotel is a haunting, atmospheric drama that explores the fragile boundaries between innocence and corruption, love and obsession, truth and illusion.

When the son of a billionaire businessman is found dead in a dilapidated hotel on the outskirts of Los Angeles, every resident becomes a suspect. The hotel itself is home to society’s forgotten souls — dreamers, outcasts, and the emotionally fractured.

Among them are the gentle and childlike Tom Tom (Jeremy Davies) and the fiercely independent Eloise (Milla Jovovich), whose intense and unconventional love stands in stark contrast to the grim mystery surrounding the death. Their relationship becomes the emotional core of the story, blurring the line between purity and madness.

Assigned by the FBI, Detective Skinner (Mel Gibson) arrives at the hotel to determine whether the incident was a murder or a suicide. As he immerses himself in the lives of the residents, Skinner finds himself increasingly disoriented. Each testimony reveals not clarity, but deeper contradictions.

As the investigation unfolds, the distinctions between crime and despair, sanity and insanity, begin to dissolve. The Million Dollar Hotel ultimately becomes less about solving a mystery and more about understanding the emotional wreckage left behind in a world where love is often the only remaining truth.
