Plot Summary

Divorced, isolated, and deeply dissatisfied with his job, Samuel Bicke (Sean Penn) stands on the brink of a psychological collapse. Living a life defined by alienation and quiet despair, Samuel believes the system has conspired against him at every turn. When his request for a business loan is abruptly denied, his fragile grip on reality finally gives way.

Retreating into solitude, Samuel becomes consumed by a dangerous plan. Convinced that President Richard Nixon is the embodiment of everything that has gone wrong in his life, he decides to hijack a plane and crash it into the White House, transforming his personal failure into a violent political statement. His descent into extremism unfolds not with spectacle, but with chilling intimacy.

Inspired by real events, The Assassination of Richard Nixon offers a disturbing psychological portrait of a man crushed by systemic indifference. Sean Penn delivers a haunting, restrained performance, supported by Naomi Watts in a quietly affecting role. Directed by Niels Mueller, the film eschews sensationalism in favor of a tense, character-driven narrative that explores loneliness, resentment, and the terrifying consequences of untreated despair.
