Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Welcome to Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, the most extraordinary, whimsical, and magical toy store in the world—where imagination reigns supreme and the impossible feels wonderfully alive. Inside this enchanted space, balls bounce of their own accord, fish glide through the air, stuffed animals return your hugs, and even homework can be rewarded with delightful surprises. Every corner of the Emporium pulses with life, including the store itself, transforming it into a dreamlike paradise that captivates children and adults alike.

The heart and soul of the Emporium is its 243-year-old founder, Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman), whose boundless joy and eccentric wisdom have kept the magic alive for generations. One day, however, Magorium announces his intention to hand over full ownership and legal control of the store to his young and insecure manager, Molly Mahoney (Natalie Portman). This decision sends shockwaves through the Emporium, which reacts like a living being plunged into anger and despair.

As the store’s vibrant spirit begins to fade, a gloomy accountant named Henry (Jason Bateman) arrives to assess the Emporium’s market value. With his presence, the once-colorful wonderland undergoes unsettling changes: toys remain on the shelves, but their vivid colors drain into lifeless shades of gray, and the joyful energy that once filled the space falls eerily silent.

Restoring the Emporium’s magic will require more than logic or numbers. Only Molly and Henry, aided by a remarkably gifted nine-year-old child, can rediscover the hidden magic within themselves. Together, they must learn to believe again—proving that imagination, courage, and childlike wonder are the true forces that can bring the Emporium back to life.
