Plot Summary

Roy (Nicolas Cage) is a highly skilled con artist whose life is governed by severe obsessive-compulsive disorder and an unyielding need for control. Together with his sharp and streetwise partner Frank (Sam Rockwell), Roy executes elaborate scams with near-flawless precision, living by strict routines that keep his anxiety at bay.

Roy’s carefully constructed world begins to unravel when he discovers that he has a teenage daughter, Angela (Alison Lohman), whose existence he never knew about. As Angela enters his life, Roy finds himself struggling to balance his criminal profession, his psychological compulsions, and his unexpected responsibilities as a father.

What starts as an awkward attempt at bonding gradually draws Angela into Roy’s secret world of deception, blurring the lines between trust, manipulation, and genuine affection. As emotions deepen and plans grow more complex, Roy is forced to confront whether he can truly change—or if every relationship in his life is just another carefully calculated con.
