Plot Summary

Ghostbusters follows paranormal researcher Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) and his three colleagues as they conduct controversial experiments at Columbia University. When the administration grows uncomfortable with their unconventional work, the four academics are dismissed, leaving them unemployed but undeterred. Determined to put their expertise to use, they form a private company dedicated to investigating and capturing ghosts.

Operating under the name Ghostbusters, the team quickly gains attention by eliminating supernatural disturbances across New York, using their own inventive and highly unorthodox equipment. Their most challenging case arrives when musician Dana Barrett finds herself terrorized by powerful entities in her apartment. As the Ghostbusters investigate, they uncover a far greater threat: the building itself serves as a gateway for malevolent spirits seeking entry into the human world.
