Big Game (2015)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Big Game is a high-concept action-adventure film that blends survival thriller elements with a coming-of-age narrative set against the vast wilderness of northern Finland. Directed by Jalmari Helander, the film places an unconventional young hero at the center of an international crisis.

The story follows 13-year-old Oskari, portrayed by Onni Tommila, who is sent alone into the forest as part of a traditional rite of passage. What begins as a test of survival and self-reliance quickly escalates when Air Force One is shot down by terrorists, forcing the President of the United States, William Alan Moore, played by Samuel Jackson, to parachute into the same remote terrain.

As elite security systems fail and global power structures collapse, the film narrows its focus to the fragile alliance between a seasoned world leader and a boy struggling with fear and self-doubt. Oskari becomes the President’s only hope of survival, turning the wilderness into a battleground where courage, instinct, and trust determine life or death.

Supported by an international cast including Ray Stevenson, Victor Garber, Mehmet Kurtuluş, Ted Levine, Felicity Huffman, and Jim Broadbent, Big Game delivers a fast-paced narrative that contrasts geopolitical stakes with intimate character development. The result is a stylized action film that emphasizes bravery and personal growth as much as spectacle.
