Drake was born on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as the son of Sandi Graham and Dennis Graham. His full name is Aubrey Drake Graham. Drake’s father is an African-American from Memphis, Tennessee, while his mother is a Jewish Canadian educator. His parents divorced when he was five years old. Raised by his mother, Drake completed his primary education at Forest Hill Public School. He began high school at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute but left school before graduating due to his passion for acting. Years later, he completed his education by taking external examinations and graduated in October 2012. During summer holidays, he visited his father in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2001, Drake began his acting career by joining the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He became widely known for his role as Jimmy Brooks in the series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Drake released his first mixtape Room for Improvement in February 2006. He released his first studio album So Far Gone in 2009.

In 2011, Drake won the Best Rap Album award at the 2013 Grammy Awards with his album Take Care.

On September 24, 2013, Drake released the album Nothing Was the Same, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 200 chart by selling an impressive 658,000 copies in its first week in the United States.

To date, Drake has sold approximately 6 million albums worldwide. He has won 1 Grammy Award, 3 Juno Awards, and 6 BET Awards. At the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, he became one of the most nominated artists with five nominations, alongside Rihanna.
