The Whole Truth (2016)
Official Trailer
Plot Summary
The Whole Truth centers on a tense courtroom drama involving a young man accused of murdering his wealthy and influential father, and the defense attorney tasked with uncovering the reality behind the case. As the trial unfolds, the narrative gradually exposes layers of manipulation, hidden motives, and buried family secrets. The legal battle is not merely about guilt or innocence, but about how truth itself can be shaped, concealed, or distorted within the justice system.
Starring Keanu Reeves as the determined defense lawyer, alongside Renée Zellweger and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, the film explores moral ambiguity and the heavy burden of advocacy. Directed by Courtney Hunt, who previously gained critical recognition with Frozen River and an Academy Award nomination, the film is driven by a screenplay written by Nicholas Kazan. Through restrained tension and emotional depth, the story examines how personal loyalty, ambition, and ethical responsibility collide when the truth is far more complex than it first appears.
