Plot Summary

Psycho follows Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), an Arizona real estate secretary who sees a desperate chance to escape her financial troubles after stealing $40,000 from her employer. Hoping to reunite with her lover Sam Loomis (John Gavin) and build the life they have long imagined, she sets out on a tense journey that gradually pulls her deeper into fear and uncertainty.

Forced to stop for the night at the remote Bates Motel, Marion meets its quiet and unsettling proprietor, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), a young man whose disturbing attachment to his mother hints at something far more sinister beneath his polite manner. What begins as a brief roadside stay soon turns into one of the most infamous nightmares in cinema history.

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Psycho is a landmark of psychological suspense that shattered narrative expectations and redefined horror filmmaking. With its oppressive atmosphere, shocking violence, and one of the most iconic scenes ever filmed, the movie remains a chilling study of guilt, repression, and madness.
